Howdy there, farm friend!
Have you been thinking about buying in bulk this year? By "bulk," I mean quarters and halves of beef, and half and whole hogs. Is this something your family does, or maybe thinking about starting?
There are definitely benefits to both buying in bulk and by the pound. Each family is different and has to weigh the pros and cons of each option.
Thankfully, we offer both options at the farm so that you have the flexibility to choose what works best for you while still being able to get a superior, farm-fresh product.
With the new year here, we are looking ahead and planning out 2022. With that said, we are booking our bulk beef/pork orders for the year. Now, that doesn't mean you can't come to me in 6 months and ask for a half beef, but my availability in several months could be very low and the likelihood of me having your ideal date open isn't very good. I want to offer you the opportunity to get your beef right when you need it.
Here are some things to know:
We butcher EVERY month of the year. This means that if you are thinking about buying in bulk, you have the opportunity to choose the month or time of year that works best for you. It also means that if you choose to buy by the pound, we can guarantee that our product is always fresh!
Most of our butcher dates are the first week of each month. There are a few exceptions where our butcher date is closer to mid-month.
Our beef dry ages for a minimum of 14 days. This optimizes flavor and tenderness. It takes about 3 weeks from the butcher date for the beef to be ready for pick-up.
When you buy in bulk, you choose how you'd like your products cut and packaged. A few examples include choosing steak thickness, roast size, ground beef package size, number of steaks to a pack, etc.
We do ALL communication with the butcher. We send you an easy-to-fill-out cut sheet and are more than happy to go through it with you. We pass this along to the butcher, stay in touch with them and pick up your beef when it is ready. All you have to do is come to the farm to grab the finished product.
I understand that buying in bulk can be a confusing process, but my goal is to make it easy! I'm here to answer all of your questions. Also, there is no such thing as a dumb question! And if there was, I'm sure I ask plenty of them ;)
Our 'bulk cost' includes standard processing, eliminating the need for you to pay both us and the butcher. It keeps things simple and straightforward.
Do you prefer to stock up for summer grilling and cookouts? May is a great month to order for the upcoming summer months. Like to have a full freezer all winter? October and November are perfect options. Like to stay on a schedule and order 1x or 2x a year? Let me know and I can keep you on a recurring list! We're flexible and are here to make stocking up as easy and convenient as possible!
